Tips for the Groom
At Sarti, we offer our grooms-to-be some valuable wardrobe tips when choosing their
wedding suit.
-
Think about your wedding suit ...because it will inhabit your wardrobe for the rest of your life.
-
The groom should stand out from his groomsmen. They should complement your outfit but definitely not compete.
-
Before deciding on the colour and style of your suit, ask your bride-to-be what colour she is wearing (if she is not wearing white) to ensure nothing clashes.
-
Don't be afraid to stand out. This is your day of glory too. Remember, a handsome stylish groom can only benefit the bride, not detract from her.
-
Choose your suit, shirt and tie together. Sometimes you may not find the perfect tie or shirt to coordinate with what you have already purchased so make sure to coordinate them at the same time.
-
Shoes are very important if you are wearing a light coloured suit - don't wear black shoes as they truncate the body. And bear in mind, shades of tan and burgundy work beautifully for the summer outdoor wedding scene.
-
Make sure the colour scheme you choose actually suits and enhances your features and that YOU like what you see. Just like your bride-to-be you should be thrilled with the way you look in the full ensemble.
-
If you are taking the trouble to have your suit handmade, make sure that your shirt is perfectly fitted as well since most grooms take their coat off once they hit the dance floor!
-
If your wedding suit has been hanging in your cupboard for weeks waiting for the big day, then you should take it to your tailor (not drycleaner) the day before for final pressing, particularly for the rolled lapel finish.
-
Make sure you have a second shirt made and an alternative tie, just in case the pressure of the occasion turns up the heat, or you may wish to create another look for the reception.
